About Sundance, Utah

Nestled in the Wasatch Range of Utah County, Sundance Mountain Resort offers a unique blend of outdoor adventure and cultural enrichment. Established in 1944 as Timp Haven, the resort was acquired by actor Robert Redford in 1968. Under his ownership, it was renamed to Sundance, inspired by his role in the film Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Redford envisioned a year-round resort that would not only provide recreational activities but also promote the arts and environmental conservation. This vision led to the creation of the Sundance Institute and the Sundance Film Festival, which have become renowned platforms for independent filmmakers.

Today, Sundance Mountain Resort encompasses over 5000 acres of pristine mountain terrain. The resort features 72 runs, with 21% designated for beginners, 32% for intermediates, and 47% for advanced skiers. The resort's terrain is serviced by nine lifts, including high-speed quads and surface lifts, accommodating a variety of skill levels. The resort's commitment to preserving the natural landscape is evident in its development, with buildings harmoniously integrated into the environment and a focus on sustainability.
